Applied Scientist — NLP

1. About the Role

We're looking for an Applied Scientist to build language understanding systems for financial and enterprise documents. You'll work on information extraction, document understanding, and applying NLP to extract structured insights from unstructured text.

This role involves working with real-world enterprise documents, building robust NLP pipelines, and ensuring high-quality extraction that meets governance requirements. You'll collaborate with research scientists and engineers to productionize NLP innovations.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and improve NLP models for document understanding and information extraction
• Build robust pipelines for processing financial and enterprise documents
• Fine-tune and adapt language models for domain-specific tasks
• Evaluate model performance and ensure quality meets enterprise standards
• Collaborate with engineers to deploy NLP models at scale

3. Required Qualifications

• Education: PhD in NLP, ML, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Domain: Strong background in NLP and information extraction
• ML Models: Experience with transformer models and fine-tuning
• Programming: Strong Python skills and experience with ML frameworks
• Data Experience: Experience working with real-world text data and documents
• Evaluation: Understanding of evaluation metrics and quality assurance
• Skills: Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
